November 2nd, 2015 | Dossier arrived in Johannesburg! 

October 28th, 2015 | Dossier mailed to South Africa.

October 23rd, 2015 | Dossier mailed to international agency.

August 27th, 2015 | Approved by USCIS for adoption from South Africa.

August 20th, 2015 | Fingerprinting appointment for USCIS.

July 28th, 2015 | USCIS confirms acceptance of I800-A.

July 25th, 2015 | Notarized remaining dossier documents (excepting USCIS approval).

July 22nd, 2015 | Mailed I800-A to USCIS in Texas.

July 8th, 2015 | Notarized home studies received via mail.

June 26th, 2015 | Home study approved!

June 11th, 2015 | All paperwork finally submitted for home study. Prepping the I800-A.

June 2nd, 2015 | Accepted a job offer. Waiting on official offer and updated our financial statement for the final home study.

May 22nd, 2015 | Received our life insurance polices and our medical paperwork.

May 13th, 2015 | Redid our medical evaluations for the home study and the dossier.

April 13th, 2015 | Sent the remainder of our life insurance paperwork for underwriting. Wait should be 6-8 weeks.

April 11th, 2015 | Re-did our background clearances for FBI and three different states.

March 29th, 2015 | Last home study visit. Had our house tour and discussed how much we understood about the challenges of adoption and how we would approach parenting.

March 25th, 2015 | Met with a pediatrician with experience in international adoption to go over our medical checklist.

March 13th, 2015 | First batch of individual home study interviews completed at home.

February 11, 2015 | Home study interview originally scheduled for this date, later cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

January 28, 2015 | New social worker assigned to our case.

January 15, 2015 | Home study paid for.

January 14, 2015 | Home study paperwork submitted in full to agency.

December 22, 2014 | Fire and safety inspection with our local fire marshal.

December 12 & 15, 2014 | Attended webinars on the South Africa program and got a better estimation of our timeline and what we can expect during travel.

December 8, 2014 | Requested a fire and safety inspection with the county.

October, 2014 | Completed six hours of training through Adoption Learning Partners over the weekends.

September 29, 2014 | Physicals completed both for the homestudy and the international dossier.

September 25, 2014 | Received remainder of paperwork from international agency: USCIS and South Africa dossier.

September 6, 2014 | Attended our first adoption training course (three hours).

August 27, 2014 | Officially approved for adoption by our international agency.

August 18, 2014 | We have been assigned a case worker with our international adoption agency.

August 5, 2014 | First meeting with our social worker at our home. Asked a few questions but there was a good, mutual understanding of the paperwork and process.

July 31, 2014 | Submitted our application with our international agency. Assigned our social worker through our local agency. Paperwork and training modules provided for us to begin the home study process.

July 25, 2014 | Application approved with local agency and application fee paid.

July 24, 2014 | Submitted our application with our local agency.

June 6, 2014 | Told our finances look good to begin the paperwork as soon as we are ready.

May 27, 2014 | Had an in-person consultation with our local agency and a more in-depth meeting via phone with our international agency.

May 5, 2014 | Attended an international adoption information meeting.

January 9, 2014 | Attended our first adoption information meeting and began researching different programs.

2013 | Discussed starting a family and the prospect of adoption.
